Maridulu Budyari Gumal partners have access to a comprehensive suite of training and professional development resources to facilitate cost effective and timely training for clinical trials staff and ethics committee members. This includes podcasts, trained facilitators to deliver workshops, online self-directed courses and recorded sessions from past workshops.

  • Good Clinical Practice training

    Maridulu Budyari Gumal is standardising and coordinating Good Clinical Practice training across the partners to provide cost effective and high quality Australia relevant GCP training. Under a licence with Sophie Mepham GCP™, trainers provide GCP workshops - Introduction to GCP, Refresher GCP and GCP for associated staff (Short Session GCP).

    Maridulu Budyari Gumal trains partner staff to deliver the suite of training options as part of its GCP Train the Trainer Program for Research Sites.

    Introduction to GCP, Refresher GCP and GCP for associated staff can also be done as free, self-directed online modules.

  • Self-directed online GCP courses

    To do these courses you need to create an account in the training provider’s website. For more information on setting up your account, go to our GCP FAQs and also read the T&Cs and access requirements.

    Go to our Australia relevant online Introduction to GCP, Refresher GCP and GCP for associated staff.

    Introduction to GCP is the the course to take if you haven’t received previous GCP training. Refresher GCP is suitable for those who have already completed the Introduction to GCP course.

    GCP for associated staff has modules for clinical staff, radiology, pharmacy and pathology.

  • T&Cs of using the GCP training materials

    The GCP training materials are devised and provided by Sophie Mepham GCP™ under licence to SPHERE. Under the licence the training is provided to current SPHERE partner staff only.

    The online training modules are hosted on the Sophie Mepham GCP™ website. Users must create an account and accept the Terms of Use and Customer Privacy Policy of that website.

  • Professional development for ethics committees

    Ethics Exchange Webinars

    Spend 90 online minutes unravelling the complexities of human research ethics review in the company of ethics colleagues from across the SPHERE partners, guest experts and staff of research ethics and governance units.

    Ethics Exchange is a joint professional development initiative of the Local Health District and University human research ethics units across the partners of Maridulu Budyari Gumal. Each session invites guest speakers to provide their insights to the topic to encourage discussion of the ethics review considerations raised. The sessions are targeted to current ethics committee members.

  • Professional development for ethics committees

    Introduction to HREC Fundamentals

    An online course developed for people who are members of ethics committees, potential members and research support staff. Developed by PRAXIS Australia in collaboration with Maridulu Budyari Gumal and Sydney Health Partners, the cost of this course is subsidised for staff of SPHERE partners.

    Working with Sydney Health Partners and NSW Regional Health Partners, Maridulu Budyari Gumal has developed resources to assist our partners to address their Clinical Trial auditing and monitoring requirements.

  • Health Economics Workshop

    In 2023 Maridulu Budyari Gumal commissioned The George Institute for Global Health, The Kirby Institute and the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) UTS to develop and deliver a 1.5 day workshop on health economics for non economists.
